System Design
Holman Engineering developed the first parking guidance system in 1980. This system has continually been evolving to offer more and more features. The IntelliPark system is 100% Australian Made. We have designed all of the components (LED displays and Controllers) and written all of the software (embedded and PC based). This means we have complete control over all aspects of the system. We not only know what IntelliPark can and can’t do we can make the system do anything that is required. You won’t be hearing “we can’t do that” from us if you come up with a new feature that you would like.
The IntelliPark system comprises of both hardware and software.
The hardware consists of the following:
The server performs all communications with nodes and LED signs and calculates spaces available in each car park.
The Holman parking guidance system runs off a central SQL server database which contains all the information pertaining to the movement of cars within each car park. The data in the tables is typically updated each minute.
The Holman PGS can interface to any other (parking) system. Holman has interfaced IntelliPark to many other systems including Prowatch, Cardax and Honeywell systems. IntelliPark is 100% compatible with running on a virtual server.
The software has two modules:
There are no software licensing fees. If upgrades are required to maintain the system they are provided free of charge under the maintenance agreement for a minimum of 10 years.
The IntelliPark system comprises of both hardware and software.
The hardware consists of the following:
- Vehicle movement detectors (lasers or loop detectors)
- Nodes (These gather sensor data and drive LED displays)
- LED displays (These display the number of spaces available)
- Network Infrastructure (This allows the computer to communicate with the nodes)
- Computer System (IntelliPark requires one PC, monitor, keyboard and mouse at “The Hub”)

The software has two modules:
- Main Control Software (which gathers the data (i.e. number of counts) from all nodes, and also drives each of the LED displays)
- Reporting software
